“It’s the unexpected gluten in products that causes the biggest problem”, and “...the taste of the gluten free option is like cardboard” were comments which we frequently heard when Drossa was founded more than ten years ago.  Since then, we’ve eaten countless samples of gluten free foods in our search for products which,in our various test panels' opinions, tasted good – not just to those who need to eat gluten free, but would be delicious for the whole family.


Over the years, many of our products have won Great Taste Awards, Free From Awards or have received very favourable reviews in the specialist press – in 2012 we were the outright WINNER of the Free From Foods Awards 2012 Pasta & Pizza Category with Farabella's ACINI DI PEPE / Pasta Grains which can be used as an excellent gluten free couscous alternative.  Farabella's Acini di Pepe/Pasta Grains can be used to make refreshing Tabbouleh, delicious couscous type salads, and used as a gluten free alternative for couscous itself with the addition of tasty and nutritious Tagines.  In 2013, Mum’s Mill Bread Mix received a Free From Award, in 2015 Farabella’s Fresh (Stabilised) Gluten Free Pasta Orechiette received a Free From Award, and this year (2016) Farabella's Strozzapreti Fresh (stabilised) Gluten Free Pasta also received a Free From Award.


Drossa offers quality Gluten Free pastas from Italy under the Farabella and BiAlimenta brand labels,and fabulous, easy-to-use and versatile Gnocchi – a real ‘must’ for the store cupboard. This vacuum packed product has a long shelf life and needs no refrigeration (if kept in its original pack, unopened), and it takes approximately just two minutes to cook once you put the gnocchi into boiling water!  There's now a choice of four types of Gnocchi:  Classic (available in two sizes: 250g and 500g), Mini-sized Gnocchi and Spinach Gnocchi. 


Last year we were pleased to introduce Farabella’s Gluten Free FRESH (stabilised) PASTA.  Available in five different shapes, it cooks easily, keeps its shape, and tastes simply wonderful. Better that fresh!  Unopened, these pastas can be kept in your store cupboard.  Try Fresh Istabilised)  STROZZAPRETI (Free From Award 2016),  ORECHIETTE (Free From Award 2015), TROFIE, CICCATELLI and GARGANELLI.  This year we will be introducing Farabella's "Quick Cook" gluten free pasta PENNE and SPIRALI/FUSILLI.  Needing just two minutes to cook - gluten free pastas are now more convenient that ever!!!


Look out for our range of flours which are easy to use for breadmaking (by hand in a conventional oven or in a breadmaker),or to make pastry, biscuits, and cakes.


Drossa is also pleased to have addedf our wonderful Extra Virgin Olive Oils from Galantino. This award-winning company produces a range of flavoured Extra Virgin Olive Oils where the ingredients of the actual flavour are processed together with the selected olives in the mill to provide the first press Extra Virgin Olive Oil – natural filtration ensures that the oil is offered at its best. We offer four flavours:Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Lemon, with Orange, with Basil and with Mint.
